| Goal for implementation with client (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound relating to the client): | Pre-Meeting: Introduce client to ayurveda, conduct dosha quiz, and ask client for any specific goals or areas of improvement. Meeting: Utilizing the ayurvedic framework of doshas, and agni, ama, and ojas, identify potential modifications based on client's goals. | ||||||||
| Relevant Client(s) Details | 63 y/o female expressed an interest in ayurveda and what it could do to help her. | How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | Email the client a dosha quiz to determine dosha dominance. Then meet with client to discuss the doshas and help her balance the doshas. Travis, F. T., & Wallace, R. K. (2015). Dosha brain-types: A neural model of individual differences. Journal of Ayurveda and integrative medicine, 6(4), 280–285. https://doi.org/10.4103/0975-9476.172385 | ||||||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | This session primarily focused on hatha yoga (pranayama and diet) and jnana yoga (self-analysis and learning/modifying herself). | ||||||||
| Short notes on time with client: | By phone, client was very excited to take the dosha quiz. In person, reviewed dosha quiz: client was just over half pitta, and nearly split one fourth vata and kapha. This matches her body type and description of attributes. Client felt some of her stress comes from her interactions with others, described as fast and needs to slow down. We discussed not needing to reply immediately when responding to others or questions. I proposed she pause and take a deep breath (deerga swasam) before responding. She loved it. She felt her diet was in need of work and often missed lunch during her travel, consistent with her dosha. She eats a variety of foods and often eats dinner out if she's traveling. I proposed saving left overs from dinner as she said she often has a refrigerator at the hotel and packing healthy snacks, she loved it and mentioned nuts, fruit, and cheese. | ||||||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | Client is going to work on the two chosen areas and would like to meet up again, decided on 2-4 weeks after her next couple training weeks to check in on current goals and discuss other ideas. | ||||||||
| Reflection | |||||||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | Yes, the plan worked as developed with no changes needed. The goal was met as the discussion on the doshas and the client's scenarios led to the client setting a couple goals to help balance her doshas as well as work on areas she felt needed work. | ||||||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | No, everything went is expected with this client. Sometimes things go as planned!?! It was quite interesting that so many areas of the dosha profile fit the client. | ||||||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | I think my approach would be the same, but I'm sure some clients will be resistant to change in both developing goals and in carrying out their own goals once developed. | ||||||||
| Will you be uploading suplimental images or documents? | No | ||||||||
| Upload supplemental images or documents | |||||||||
