| Selected key teaching (specific core concept): | Karma Yoga. Trying to have my client "do his best and leave the rest". Practice on focusing on the task at hand and doing the best work he can. Trying to minimize the stress of the outcome or thinking of the over whelming stacks of projects he needs to complete. | ||||
| Goal for implementation with client (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound relating to the client): | S:Karma Yoga. Having him pause and take some deep breaths and remind himself. "I'm doing my best" whenever he feels overwhelmed. | ||||

| How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | I would discuss and explain Karma Yoga - trying one's best while being neutral to the rewards or outcomes of the result, whether it be success or failure. I recommended repeating the mantra "I'm doing my best and leaving the rest" when he is overwhelmed will help with stress, down regulate his nervous system and allow him to be neutral to the outcome. Which all would allow him to be more focused and productive at work. | ||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | Karma Yoga Branch The Secret Power of Yoga - Nischala Joy Devi p136-139 Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 3 Eight Limbs of Yoga - Aparigraha - non attachment | ||||
| Short notes on time with client: | Client listened and realized he was doing his best already at work. A "light bulb" when off. He understood he didn't need to be worried about the results because it was already his best. | ||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | 1 week, daily. When he felt overwhelmed. | ||||
| Reflection | |||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | Yes, goal was achieved. I was able to explain and my client understood he was doing his best all along. It was a "light bulb" moment. Worrying about the result only caused him more stress and less productive at work. He said to me he did use the mantra "I'm dong my best" a few times during the week. | ||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | - No, I didn't have to adapt my plan. - I learned that my client was very receptive and used the mantra when he was overwhelmed. | ||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | I would approach it in the same way and wouldn't change anything in my approach. Everything went well. It was great to see the "ah ha" moment. He realized he was doing his best. However, that didn't mean he didn't stress at work. He said he was still stressed but the mantra "I'm doing my best and letting go of the rest" did help him refocus. | ||||
