Going to sleep earlier 60

Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

I would recommend as homework for the next week to go to bed 1 hour earlier. Explain to my client how we all need to allow our mind and body to rest more so it can repair, rebuild and relax. Sleep will allow our body and mind to access our parasympathetic nervous system to rest and digest.

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

Hatha Yoga Branch - Yoga Nidra
Koshas - 5 layers of being
Raja Yoga - Sutra 1.10 Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - Abhāva pratyayālambanā vrttir nidrā ~ "That mental modification supported by cognition of nothingness is sleep."

Short notes on time with client:

My client was very receptive and said wants and knows he needs to go to bed earlier. He acknowledges that staying up late is not conducive to his overall mental and physical health.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

My client will try to go to sleep 1 hour earlier for 1 week. He would report how he did at our next session.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

My goal was achieved and I am extremely happy. This was an easy plan and goal to achieve for my client as well. I knew my client was already receptive to going to sleep earlier. My client said he slept earlier 6 out fo the 7 days (a win in my book and his). The one time he did stay up late was for sports. He expressed he felt good knowing he was getting more rest and felt more rejuvenated the next day. I know sometimes someone just needs that extra gentle push towards the right direction.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

No, I didn't have to adapt my plan. I learned that my client was receptive and more than willing to go to bed earlier and sometimes we just need a gentle nudge by someone in the right direction.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

I would approach it in the same way. Everything went well and my client was able to incorporate it in his daily life. Suggesting going to sleep earlier was an easy task for my client since he already knew he should be getting more sleep. He acknowledged that watching mindless tv was not helping his mind and body.
