| Goal for implementation with client (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound relating to the client): | Teach client a combination of pratipaksha bhavana and a pranic healing meditation utilizing deerga swasam pranayama to refocus and ease back pain, working through the subtle koshas to help heal the back pain in annamaya kosha. | ||||||
| Relevant Client(s) Details | 42 y/o female, no major health conditions, obesity, lower back pain/sciatica flare ups | ||||||
| Session Outline |
| ||||||
Report Information | |||||||
| How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | Approaching client with lower back pain through healing of multiple kosha layers. Teach client deep breathing pranayama (deerga swasam) and guide client through a pranic healing to refocus prana to the lower back. | ||||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | The pranayama falls under hatha yoga, the pranic healing falls under raja yoga, and the self analysis aspect falls under jnana yoga. | ||||||
| Short notes on time with client: | Client complains of lower back ache, pain steady 2 surges to 6 out of 10. Client also gets sciatica flare-ups periodically, and is optimistic to trying new methods of easing and prevention. Client RR reduced from 20 to 12 during the pranayama practice. | ||||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | Client will continue to practice deerga swasam. | ||||||
| Reflection | |||||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | The plan was carried out as planned. Teaching on the deerga swasam was done followed by the pranic healing session. THe client reduced breathign rate and report of resting lower back ache reducing from 2 to 0 after the practice showed the goal was achieved. Anderson BE, Bliven KCH. The Use of Breathing Exercises in the Treatment of Chronic, Nonspecific Low Back Pain. J Sport Rehabil. 2017 Sep;26(5):452-458. doi: 10.1123/jsr.2015-0199. Epub 2016 Aug 24. PMID: 27632818. | ||||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | There were no adaptations need in this session. All went as planned, but I won't assume the next session will go as planned. | ||||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | I would absolutely use a similar approach of addressing the affected kosha layers as well as the subtler layers to promote healing. This session went perfect so no changes would be needed. | ||||||
| Will you be uploading suplimental images or documents? | No | ||||||
| Upload supplemental images or documents | |||||||
