Plan Information | |||||
| Selected key teaching (specific core concept): | Long exhalation to cool the Pitta imbalance. | ||||
| Goal for implementation with client (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound relating to the client): | The client will practice exhaling long (at least one count more than inhalation) for 1 minute. She will do this three times a day before eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She will mark her effort every time she does this practice and will report after a week to discuss the progress. | ||||
| Relevant Client(s) Details | My client is 50 years of age, female, and in good health condition. | ||||

Report Information | |||||
| How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | My client had a chance to do this practice during our time together. She agreed to do this 3 times a day on her own before breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a minute. She did this practice for a week and recorded her effort every day by marking "yes" or "no" depending on whether she did it or not. | ||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | I used pranayama, the third branch of Raja yoga. My client experiences a lot of rage and anger which shows their pitta imbalance. Exhaling long cools the body which counteracts the hot nature of pitta imbalance. | ||||
| Short notes on time with client: | I had my client fill in the intake form ahead of time and send it to me via email. Then we met over the online platform. During our first session, we did centering, hatha yoga, and other practices including long exhalation. We then discussed the possibility of practicing this practice daily. The client agreed to my suggestion to practice this before having her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. | ||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | The client will do this practice on her own. She forgot to do this for a couple of days in the beginning. I suggested setting a reminder on her phone around mealtime and it worked. | ||||
| Reflection | |||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | Yes, I did. I explained the science behind exhaling long and how it helps to pacify the heat generated due to anger and rage. I also talked about the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and how breathing in and breathing out connects to regulating our emotions. | ||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | No, I did not have to change anything. | ||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | Yes, I would recommend the same practice. This is a great practice to pacify the pitta imbalance. This is a portable practice and the client may practice this at any time. | ||||
| Will you be uploading suplimental images or documents? | Yes | ||||
